Dr. S K Raghunath’s long career has brought him many experiences and laurels. After completing his M.B.B.S. in 1993 and MS in General Surgery in 1998, both from Government Medical College, Mysore, he went on to complete his residency in Urology (DNB, 2004) from Muljibhai Patel Urological Hospital, Nadiad, Gujarat. Going further, he received his Fellowship in Uro-Oncology from the Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute & Research Centre (RGCI, 2006-08), Delhi, and another in Laparoscopic and Robotic Urology from Taipei City Hospital and Mackey Memorial Hospital, Taipei, Taiwan.
In 2013, April-May, Dr. S K Raghunath was a visiting fellow in Molecular Oncology for Prostate Cancer, at the Centre for Prostate Disease Research (CPDR) and Walter Reed Army University, Maryland, Washington DC, U.S.A. He is a visiting professor to the Department of Uro-oncology at Minnesota University, Minneapolis, U.S.A. Having conducted over 16 clinical trials, 12 as principal investigator and 4 as co-investigator, in prostate and renal cancers, he has more than 20 national and international publications to his credit. Additionally, He has also authored chapters in a number of Uro-oncology books.
Dr. S K Raghunath is the Founder-Chairman of the Global Prostate Disease Foundation, an NGO that works to create awareness about prostate disease, specifically Prostate Cancer, among Urologists, in order to facilitate its early detection and prevention.
Throughout his career. Dr. S K Raghunath has performed over 2000 uro-oncological surgeries, including extremely complex procedures like-
Nerve Sparing Radical Prostatectomy for Prostate Cancer,
Nerve Sparing Radical Cystectomy and Ileal Conduit and Neobladder for Urinary Bladder Cancer,
Radical & Partial Nephrectomy, including Zero Ischemia Partial Nephrectomy for Kidney Cancer,
Partial & Radical Penectomy and Video Endoscopic Inguinal Lymphadenectomy (VEIL) for Penile Cancer,
Radical Orchiectomy & Retroperitoneal Lymph Node Dissection for Testicular Cancer, surgeries for Adrenal Tumours.
